The Second Angel’s Message

“And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Revelation 14:8   Babylon was the first nation identified in the visions of the book of Daniel. It was the most powerful and wealthiest of the line of nations – thereby receiving the symbol, head of gold (Daniel 2:36-38). However, because of the vile sins of this nation (Jeremiah 39; Daniel 5), God declared that Babylon would be destroyed and never rebuilt (Isaiah 13:19-22). The nation of Babylon’s, reign on earth ended in 539 bc when Cyrus lead his army to capture the city. So why is Babylon being mentioned in a prophetic book written in around 90 ad ?   Because Babylon was the head of all the nations identified in the time prophecy of Daniel, it stands as a representative throughout scripture for all the subsequent nations that oppose God’s people. As the name suggests Babylon also denotes a ...

The First Angel’s Message

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgement is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Revelation 14:6, 7   This is the first part of the threefold message for the last days of earth’s sinful history. This message calls for the preaching of the everlasting gospel – the good news of salvation promised to Adam and Eve in the garden and fulfilled at the cross – in preparation for the Judgement. (Genesis 3:15; John 19:17-30; Daniel 7:10; Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20:12). At the foundation of this gospel lies God’s unchanging moral law (Exodus 20:1-17; Mark 10:17-22; Matthew 5:17-20). The whole world needs to receive this message, because all of Adam’s and Eve’s progeny are to face God’s judgement seat...

Mission

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen .” Matthew 28:19, 20   One of the most important aspect of any organization is a clear knowledge of its mission/purpose. At its foundation, our church has as its mission the preaching of the three angels’ messages of Revelation 14. However, within our worldwide church body each subsidiary organization, whether church, school or health care institution, have all seemed to have their own mission that has diminished the importance of these grave yet hopeful messages.   This mission of preaching the three angels’ messages is derived from our church’s particular revelation which no other church shares. In the early to mid 1800’s many churches were studying the prophecies of Daniel and coming to varying understand...

Jaded

“… I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before … Knowing first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” 2 Peter 3:1-4   Many of us or our friends we grew up with in the church have become jaded and lost interest in the church and church life. This is understandable, Jesus warned us in scripture of vain formalities taking the place of genuine religion (Isaiah 29:13; Matthew 7:21-23; Mark 7:6-13). This has been a pattern not only in our church but in all religions and denominations spanning throughout time (Matthew 24:12). We see this expressed in the letters to the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3. The Spirit of Prophecy also warns us about pseudo-excitement, vain rituals and event planning that cover up the lack of God’...
